Very nice capture of the Sanderling! On the larger animals I would try and include the whole animal, or crop tighter around the head, and neck!

I think you must be talking about the first pic of the deer, that was the very first pic I snapped of all the deer that we seen that day. the second 2 pics are just the way you sugguested.

This one is a very pleasing image.
If it were my shot, I would darken and sharpen just a bit. Very nice composition.
