Finally got a couple of decent shots of this beautiful bird.
It is apparently related to the sparrow and is native to northwest and eastern Africa.

    Nice shots Russ! thumb.gif

They are pretty common in SAfrica and just starting to come into breeding plumage now.

Russ, those are really nice, Great job, that MK3 and 500 are serving you well, your passion shows in your work.

Love all of them but #2 is my iloveyou.gif , I like the subdued color and composition even though the others are a closer representation of it's true color.

This is a very difficult bird to capture accurately, you did a great job manclap.gifclap.gifclap.gif

You must have a wealth of beautiful, exotic (for us)birds in your area. If I ever make down that way I'll be sure to contact you.
    Thanks Al

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Great captures, Russ. Beautiful color and very nice detail. I just got some shots of a similar weaver bird but in yellow and black color. I haven't gone through the shots yet, but as soon as I do I'll post it to see the similarities. Where did you find that bird?
    These look fantastic. thumb.gif
