An Hour with a Green Heron

This was the most confident green heron I have ever met. It really wasnt bothered by me at all it just went about its business as I sat with it in a willow tree while it hunted. All of these shots were taken in about an hour or so, the light was harsh, the brush was dense, and my IS was accidently shut off but I really like how some of shots turned out.

enjoy!

Congrats on getting this little greenie. They are known to be very skittish. Number 2 turned out exceptionally well with great light and detail. thumb.gif

Hi Chad, Great shots, especially #2. I also like the look as it grabs the insect " Lunch Time" ..clap.gif

Good set, its not the norm to get one so willing to pose.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

thanks, glad you like them. I know there not the best lit or they dont have the best bkgrds but it was such a cool experience and a beautiful heron that I wanted to share. All these shots are full frame (except the top one I trimmed about 10% from the sides) taken with a canon 300 f/4 L IS +1.4X is case anyone is wondering.

    thanks,
    chad

Nice shots! Nothing like getting up close and personal with a colorful bird.
