Smugmug doctype changed?

Did the Smugmug doctype change from xhtml 1.0 to html 4.01? I thought it was XHTML, but I might be wrong...

Older threads from Mike Lane and others mention that is is xhtml, but looking at my source today, it is html.

Yes, we did revert back to html 4.01 strict a few months ago. There were some YUI things (such as menus) that performed better in certain browsers
