A few minutes with an Antelope

On the way home from the circus with the family in the car, I spy this antelope out in a field. So of course I veered off the road to try to get some pics before he ran off. The kids are used to this behavior (mine, not the antelope's).

Surprisingly, he didn't run. He just stood there for some reason.

All in all, I couldn't complain. :wink

Thanks for looking.

    Yep, the last one! thumb.gif

Maybe even a little more contrast, Joel.ne_nau.gif

Hey, thanks Ian. Yeah, that's probably the best of the bunch. The mountains make a better backdrop than does the fence and he's framed pretty nicely in that setting.

Thanks, Ric! The problem is that the light was to his rear, and his face was basically in the shadows. Anything I used to increase contrast also increased the shadow. Sigh. You're going to make me go back and do the layers-mask thing aren't you? :bluduh

Oh yeah, the other thing was that the big galoot wasn't cooperating at all. I really wanted to get him to turn into the sun, but he wasn't having any part of it. My wife and kids were getting so fed up with me chasing this guy and repositioning the car, eventually the whole family was out of the car screaming at the antelope to get it to do something. lol3.gif

Hi Joel. Nice shots. The last one is a definite keeper but he better watch it or he'll be hanging on some hunters wall. That's a nice rack that guy is carrying.

Thanks, Al! Yeah, I kept trying to attract his attention when he starting walking out over the hill, but he just kept on walking and wouldn't look back.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Hey Joel, the male must have perceived you as threat and marked his territory. Were you looking rather primitive! mwink.gif Hey, seriously these are very nice shots of what looks like a prong-horn, right? I really like the comp in the last one.

Thanks very much, Russ. My secret? I dunno, might have been the Purina Antelope Chow I had in my pocket? headscratch.gif

Although my seemingly inability to scare animals might not be an advantage when we go to shoot the Katmai bears next summer. :eek1 deal.gifmwink.gif
