Seems I hit an incorrect button and lightroom duplicated all (1000+) files.

Is there a way of sorting files by type (raw,Jpeg or tiff) and then by date?

Is there a way to find duplicated files after the fact?

Yup, look at the metadata data Browser. Then search by date,

jogle

I did that once, they might have been virtual copies though.

A quick command-Z (ctrl-Z for those stuck in windows) fixed it right up.
