Canon Lens Repair Question

I have a 1.4x extender that needs to have the mounting ring replaced. I can get the part from Canon for about $26, but the problem is getting the damaged one off. Those little phillip's heads are so tight I cannot budge them. I am using a snug fitting driver, they just won't budge.

Anyone ever done this?

You are much better off taking this to a repair shop where they deal with this on a regular basis.

I agree with ziggy. Unless I have a detailed manual I don't like tackling things of a delicate nature. But if you are comfortable with these things, are you sure it's righty tighty? Silly question but I've stripped screws because of that before. Good Luck.

I'm a DIY guy, I have no problem fixing or assembling small, complex mechanisims. Good question, could be reverse thread. Not sure why they would do that but you never know. Thanks.
