In the Rainforest with a 40D
These shots were taken at the Butterflies Rainforest in Gainsville, FL. I used a 40D and the 300mm f/4. In some of these I also used an external flash.
This first bird is similar to the one that Russ (Riddim Maker) just posted as Orange Bishop. The only difference is the color.
This Nutmeg Mannikin was actually taken a shower. The water was hitting a rock and the bird was standing uder the splash enjoying the refreshment.

Thank you Russ. I haven't had time to try all different settings, but so far I'm really pleased with the camera.

Thanks for your comments, Ric. These were shot all in Jpeg. I haven't try to shoot RAW yet. Adobe is holding all CS2 users with 40D hostages. I can still use Canon DPP or convert the RAW files to DNG. But i believe I'll upgrate to CS3 to convert my raw shots.

Thanks for your comments. Yes they are not bad for an ISO 1000 setting.
About your dilemma, my advice would be to get the 300mm.

Thanks for the reply, Socrate.
Tomorrow my 40D arrives...so last night I downloaded Lightroom for a thirty day tryout.
I dislike Adobe but I have to admit that LR is good stuff.:D

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
Thank you, Trish.

The first bird, at first glance, looks like a Golden Bishop, but looking more carefully makes me think it's a colour morph of the Red Bishop (or Orange Bishop as he's called over there )
Bugs
Spiders
Flowers
very well done

Thanks for the comments, Harry. You're probably right about the sharpness. The 40D captures sharper detail than my 30D, and I probably need to reset my USM setting for the 40D.
