I shot a wedding 3 weeks ago in New York, and most of the guests were from the UK. The wedding photos will be in a client proof gallery in a couple of days for EVERYONE to view (and hopefully purchase) but we are all wondering how it will work for those inthe UK? Will they be able to order prints? How will the conversion from dollars to pounds work? Will it cost them a fortune in shipping? How much longer might it take for delivery?

Anyone know? Hopefully it works out one way or another because the prints they all purchase will be half my income from this wedding...

Thanks!

SmugMug do ship to the UK, the economy shipping is either $5.90 or $8.85, I'm not sure which!
The site displays all values in USD, but all major UK cards just convert the amount.

    Hi Didi
I'm in the uk and although I haven't had many sales I did order several different sizes of pics to test out the service.
As you already know the quality will blow your UK customers away :D
I can't remember the exact time from placing the orders until receipt but I believe it was about 10 days, certainly no more and I used the cheapest possible method of delivery. I don't believe this will be a problem to you.

UK credit cards will as RichardJohn says just convert the US dollars to sterling on their accounts - however they ALL add a surcharge which is a fixed percentage ( small) for the conversion. Someone mentioned this a while back and I thought my own cc had not done this but when I questioned the Co about it they told me it was in the conversion rate, therefore not visible.

If the guests were prepared to travel to the US for the wedding I wouldn't think you will have any problems selling pics to them :) My only thought would be that buying patterns may suprise you - its a while since I shot a wedding but there were very few sales from the guests, a friend recently married and all her pics were availabe online etc but again very few sales outside the very immediate family - is this how it is in the US ?

I'm sure there must be some UK wedding photogs on here who will comment on this too, just my 2 cents from across the pond :)

    Cheers
