Hi - recently travelled to Lisbon where I did an excursion to Sintra. Located on the top of a mountain is a medieval castle dating back to the 8th century. Absolutely magnificent structure! Photo processed via HDR technique.

Here's another one that I would like to share with you. Guess they had a real eye for detail in those days! Medieval castle dating back to the 8th century. Absolutely magnificent structure! Photo processed via HDR technique.

Beautiful pictures
Would you mind a quick history lesson for me?
What is the castle made from? It looks like concrete, but I didn't think they had that back then. Just curious.
I don't know about this particular structure, but I do know that the Romans used concrete in building the Colusseum, which goes back WAY farther than the middle ages.
Thought they used stone...
Shows what I don't know. Thanks for the info.
Not to hijack someone else's thread, but you are correct. They did use stone, and marble, and travertine for the structure. Seating supports were concrete.
Back to the thread at hand, those are some gorgeous images, Herman. I especially like the composition of the first shot, and the contrast of color is really eye popping. Good work.
