Hello everyone. You have great stuff here in the forum. I wish I could post comments to you all, but my neck won't let me sit and type that long!
Heres my recent shots with the 40D and the 300f4, once I get the over-contrast figured out on small birds in flight, and focus issues with small focus areas, I am going to love this camera. When it's on, it bang on. For some reason the colors are more accurate when multicolored backgrounds.
Is this a Coopers Hawk? Looks so close to a sharp shinned...

Your hawk looks to be a chatty guy/gal. Nice captures.

thanx everyone, here's a pic of the younger Coopers hawk there, trying to get in to an avary. I hope they stay! Yeah, he was very upset! Glad he squacked, because I'd never see him in the trees otherwise!

    Very nice set Linda thumb.gif

What lens did you use to get that dragon in flight? That is quite a feat!!

BTW, did you sort your monitor out?

Hi Al, thanx! I finally did sort the screen color out with SpyderII. It came pretty close anyway. I still look through my old pics and don't like them as well. Used to it now though. And add to that the 40D color change and I really miss the warmth in the whites and nature scenes. [especially with the 40D]Getting used to it though. I used the 70-200f4IS + 1.4x, and manual focused. Thnx to you and Jeff [jwear]for the help.

Wowza! Great pics. I always like a nice raptor pic, but I think my favs here are the spiders! The colors on that woodpecker are fantastic! It is as if there were a sheen to its feathers.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Is this a Coopers Hawk? Looks so close to a sharp shinned... this comment is one that I have gone over many times and even tho your shots you posted show the bird very well it is still a toss up headscratch.gif but coopers would be my pick the sharpshinned is a lot smaller and the coppers are more common -- nice work

Excelent series, Linda. These rock. I like them all particularly the Acorn WP shots. clap.gifthumb.gif
I agree with Jeff ID. I'm pretty sure that is a Cooper's Hawk. Sharpies have a more squared tail.

Sorry to come back so late on this! I was told it may be a red shoulder hawk, and I wondered also. If it is, its not as red as the ones by my house. Go figure! These Juvies always mix me up! ;~)

I hope to see him again. Maybe I can identify his noisy squawks. It did kind of sound like a red shoulder. but there are Coopers around there...ne_nau.gif
