Wide angle for D50 - advice requested

Could I get recommendations on a good wide angle lens for the Nikon D50? I was thinking that the 24mm f2.8D AF looks good (and meets my budgetary requirements), but would like some objective opinions. Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

Well, are you looking to stay with a prime WA? ...or a zoom? I have a Tamron 17-35/2.8 that should still stay within your budget and I'm quite happy with the results. Just something you may want to consider...

I still keep my faithful Nikkor 24/2.8 pre Ai (later converted) and
I still have hope of using it someday again and again mwink.gif

Tamron 17-50/2.8 (not 35 !) may be a very good choice for you,
you will buy Nikon 17-55/2.8 just a little later.

The 24 is not much of a wide-angle on a crop-sensor camera like the D50. For the budget-minded either the 18-55 or 18-70 zooms would be better bets. The 12-24 f/4 would be better still, but it's not cheap.
