Greetings,

I tried to set my domain name to point to smugmug.com
scottmatlovsky.smugmug.com

I get the
That hostname doesn't appear to be valid. It doesn't resolve to a hostname. See our help section on custom hostnames.

I changed my Cname on my domain .... a few hours ago.... Network Solutions is where my domain resides..... www. worldwidephoto.com

I emailed smugmug.... this was the answer ( I don't understand it)

Thanks for contacting SmugMug. It can take up to 24-48 hours for the
changes to take affect. I ran a dns test on your custom host name and I

don't see any of the changes. This could be because they haven't been
updated yet, or there incorrect. make sure you follow the instructions
here: https://www.smugmug.com/help/professional-accounts

Double check your sites at your domain name company then add your
custom
host name in your SmugMug control panel.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards, Scott

    Hi Scott,

I'm pinging www.worldwidephoto.com and it doesn't resolve to SmugMug. That tells me the CNAME isn't set up yet. If you'd like, we can do it for you. Email our help desk again, and we'll sort you out from there. We'll need access to your domain host - be SURE to change your password to a temporary one and then we can go in and set it up for you no problem :D

    Thanks

I do want to use smugmug, however, the lack of a phone number/ customer service prevents me.

    Thank you,

    Scott

Hey Scott. I'm like you as well feeling a bit lost without a number to call. However, these guys are quick to respond and the help is amazing from all the folks out there.

I'm still on my trial period but I like what I see. I WILL be signing up.

It seems that many of the products I have bought lately don't have a phone number for support and if they have one, they make it impossible to find which includes giants like Paypal and eBay.

As an aside, I had no problem creating a cname for the www. version of my domain but not the plain (no www) version??

I am accustomed to having all of my domains "work" with or without the www.
