Been awhile since we've flown anywhere. Like way prior to 2000. :D
Really concerned about taking the DSLR & laptop through airport security.
Thens theres the issue of taking a tripod.

Should I just bag the hassel and take the point & shoot and maybe a monopod? :scratch

Could use some help with this question. Thanks in advance!

Put the tripod in your checked luggage.

Take the camera and laptop in your carry-on. I do it every single trip. No big deal. At the security line, put the lappie in its own bin and you're good.

I would not recommend checking the camera or computer. Things get stolen.

    Take it!
Take your DSLR, like Sid said check the tripod in checked bags, carry the lap and camera. I left mine behind on a trip to New Orleans and regretted it. Took it to Monterey on the last trip.:D Just carried the laptop case and camera bag with me, checked the monopod in my suitcase. No one even questioned me.

    You'll regret it . . .
if you leave your SLR back. Two words for ya . . . shutter lag.
I went to Alaska this summer, and took a high end P&S. Cried for a week for my SLRs. Never again.

No question - take the DSLR. Whatever small hassel might arise from airport security is more than made up for by the lack of regrets about only having a point and shoot in that beautiful environment. You'd be seriously kicking yourself later if you leave the DSLR behind!

I take my lappy and camera through airport security a lot, never had any problems with it thumb.gif just make sure you take out the lappy, and put it through the scanner separately.

Everything went perfectly save for lugging around the weight of the laptop &
camera bag. 38 pounds between the two. :D

I got shots I would not have gotten had I not taken the DSLR. Thanks again
for helping me make the right decision. wings.gif Mahalo. thumb.gif
