It is pretty bad when shots that one took as a child look as old as this one and even sadder that it is true.

I'll get around to cleaning this up sometime or the 'shoppers here can have a field day restoring it. If you click on the image you will find a Tiff to play with.

I took this in 1962 or 63 with the Retina that was my intro to 35mm.

Taken from the Yalova <-> Istanbul ferry. (Sea of Marmara)
    Neat pic. <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/thumb.gif" border="0" alt="" > What was the occasion?

I know this is a digicam forum, and cmr164 please pardon me for the hijack, but perhaps some folks would like to share some old film pictures from the archives, maybe show us an example or two of what sparked your interest in photography.

Here are a few of mine . . . They’re from a trip to the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium I made with my father and brother for the Formula 1 Grand Prix of 1993. They were captured on a very basic Nikon SLR with (if memory serves) a 100mm lens and garden variety Kodak print film.

Some very vocal Senna fans on race morning.

    Aryton Senna (1960 -1994).

    Mark Blundell in the Ligier.

    2353241-L.jpg

    Maserati Birdcage.

    Michael Andretti in the McLaren.

    Johnny Herbert in the Lotus.

Tim, you got some really nice shots there. And I think your Michael Andretti may be a collectible... I'm not sure anyone else was quick enough to get a shot of him while he was actually on the track.

Thanks, Sid. I don't think Michael did any agricultural racing that weekend, but he wasn't exactly lighting up the timesheets either.

So why did you think that those pics belonged in this thread. If they had had jack to do with it I would not have been offended, but you really should have started a new thread.

I would have liked to see the folks that enjoy touchup work on that image and to see some comments that went with the thread. And now I am going to have to start a new thread to give them another chance.

Yea for really old images, not for over-the-top topic changing images eek.gif

So maybe I should have just deleted the thread head, started a new thread, and not said anything but I figured I owed Tim/HarveyMushman et al an explanation of my actions.

The racing images are interesting and deserve a thread. Now they have one. The mid 20th century B/W from Turkey that is in need of restoration now also has its own thread. This is all to the good, right?

So chill your beer and champagne, waxxy. lickout.gificon10.gif
