The extra speed of a "45x" card is noticeable on any camera shooting consecutive frames rapidly, on digital cameras with smaller write buffers (which is almost all digicams other than dSLRs), and on digicams/camcorders that can record video on SD cards.

These are "45x" SD cards -- 6.75MB/sec write speed! I routinely use "8x" CF cards in my EOS 20D and never have to wait on the card, so 45x is quite fast.Have two of 'em.
