    If In had that to spend I would seriosly consider buying another body and looking on ebay for some old fast non af lenses which can be had for peanuts, Fit a fast semi wide to one body and a fast tele to the other. Work at the largest aperture and focus manually which is better in low light conditions. You could probably upgrade to a D200 and purchase three optics in the budget, I pruchased a 1.4 50mm recently for £3 on ebay recently and it is superb in low light.
