Can't rename files or disable filename keyword generation

I am a new customer and recently transferred over 1000 images from gallery to smugmug via the gallery2smug application. Unfortunately it appended ".null" to all the filenames. It's not a big deal, but it's an instance where it would be nice to clean it up via a "rename file" feature, which I've seen discussed but not accepted as a valuable feature.

Relatedly, I also discovered the unintuitiveness of keywords being generated from the filename. Some photos are received from friends with meaningful filenames, but I do not want keywords created from them. I've also read the discussion of this controversial feature. I think keywords are keywords. It's fine to allow searching to include the filenames, but for example, I don't want my top keyword cloud affected by filenames.

I think it is restrictive to not allow *either* changing the filename or disabling keywords generated from filenames. Either of these features would solve this problem. Yes, I realize I can replace the photo, but that is not an efficient solution.

Please consider allowing changes to filenames and disabling keyword generation from the filename.

Filename Changing is necessary
I agree that it would be good to have a way to change filenames that are already present without the need for replacing the file. I have a need to do that to try to increase the chance of Google searches finding my files and thus my site. So far I haven't found any way to change the name of image files that are on the website. I sure don't want to replace all the files on my site! If someone knows of a way to do it please let me know.
