Hello All,

Sony drops the 'PRO' category on SonyStyle and places the F-828 in a new 'Enthusiast' category, AND NOT ONE REPORT OR MENTION by any web site outside of the comments by posters to various forums.

Not one major Digital Camera Web Site posted a 'news story' on this subject. Isn't this a real news story? Isn't this highly unusual?

Could it be that Sony has them all under a Non-Disclosure Agreement?

Is this reason to expect that Sony really is coming out with a new 'PRO' camera?

These are very interesting digital times.

Regards, Nicholas

...not unless they have a 4/3'rds (or better) up their sleeve - and a real rocket burner at that. Something to kick the E300's butt real good. It's possible, but competing at the $800 (U.S.) and slightly higher level has been a Sony bean-counter's nightmare lately. The D'reb XT is a heck of a cam for the price. Who's going to trump that one? Not Sony. Only Nikon could even think of attempting that move (and make it a contender).

I never really thought of the 828, or it's F-series parents as a "pro" camera anyways. Pro, perhaps from a $99 el-cheapo digi-p&s point of view. It had always been marketing hype to even attempt to call it a pro camera.

Now, before you think I'm dissing the '8, I'm not. I still want one for IR's, macro's and a mid-level carry around multi-purpose cam. It's got a lot going for it (or, did, before they began to limit it's production).

Best bet for Sony is to pack the most into the $200-450 catagory cams, as all the other mfgr's are doing. That's the life-blood of the bell curve of sales, anyway.

I do secretly wish for a F-939, but I believe that's a dream that won't be coming true.

I hope that Sony plans to take over the Wedding Market.

A 4/3 configured like the F-828, 28-200 all f2, sync terminal, large buffer enabling shooting and writing simultaneously, low noise to 800, would be the only camera a wedding pro, and enthusiats would need.

    I better stop dreaming.
