Has anybody used any of the following services:

www.ScanCafe.com
www.DigitalPickle.com
www.DigMyPics.com
www.slidescanning.com (Larsen)
www.digitallifepreserver.com
www.britepix.com

???

I was going to buy a Nikon negative scanner and maybe a flatbed but I'm now estimating the old photo count is going to be above 10,000 between the two formats. Lack of time and dread are making me look to the services where you just send them in and they sort it for you.

If you were to use one of these places, would you pay extra to get TIFFs?

I noticed, after some investigation, that BritePix and DigitalPickle are both SmugMug affiliates and that you get 15% off for Sm members at BritePix.

Hey Baldy, why don't we hear about this stuff?

http://www.smugmug.com/clubsmug and there's also links to ClubSmug in your control panel, news tab. Does that help? :D

    Hey Pindy,

Yeah we still have not really blasted ClubSmug as we should but we are trying. We are adding new partners all time as well.

btw--I have used Digital Pickle and they were great. I used them for scanning my prints as well as transfer my miniDV's to DVD.

They are in San Francisco and handle all the work themselves. (Don't outsource it out)

    Good luck!
