I thought butterflys had six legs
Natural selection is responsible for every living thing that exists.
D3s, D500, D5300, and way more glass than the wife knows about.
You do realize MACRO is very very very addictive don't ya
Funny how much more interesting bugs and other things are,
when you can see their structure more easily and up close.
Enjoy your new hobby, it sure is a whole new world to explore.
Very Nice Series........thanks for sharing .... Skippy

Ok- I didn't even notice!! But if anyone has a good answer to this I would love to hear it. I tried looking it up and found that some do have six but the front are held along the thorax. And from the one site I found- some do have only four. Anyone have a better answer? thanks
According to http://www.shrewsbury-ma.gov/schools/beal/curriculum/butterfly/butterflyinfo.htm ...........
Legs
Butterflies have 6 legs (3 pairs). Butterflies taste with their feet! That's how they find flower nectar and the best plants to lay their eggs.
"Brush-footed" butterflies (mourning cloak, painted lady, monarch) look like they have only 4 legs. The two front legs are small and covered with small hairs. They hold these legs up by their head. Click here to see the mourning cloak's legs up close.
