yeah yeah......they call me papa-rotsy!!
I am not crazy about 1. I wish I had handled the reflector differently and lit above her cheeks more than below. I think it looks unatural, but is still a keeper.

I am a huge proponent of NEVER doing selective color, I think it always looks pretty cheesy. It does in this case at least pull my 3 subjects out of the clutter in a photo that would otherwise have been busy AND rather cheesy anyway.
I am sure I will hear it from my fellow photographers here who know where I stand on selective color. I think they have not commented yet because they are digging through all my old posts where I said how much I dislike it!!!

well done sir.
Well, I don't really like the hands in the pockets either, but he is a pretty good guy and fairly quiet and shy. I made the decision to just let him be himself, and hopefully be comfortable. He still looks a bit uptight to me....but that is the best we could do in 10 minutes!!

I have tried to do this every time we have an event like this. I have a nice collection of other parents sizing up their subjects in viewfinders and lcd's. It is just another way to tell a story of the excitement and specialness of the occasion. I am glad you think it works.....selective color is a gamble that seldomly pays off!!!
