Urban Hawk - Warning Blood and Guts
Hi Guys, I've been a SmugMug user for a while, but brand new to the forums. Looks to be a nice community.
I came across this Redtailed Hawk while photographing old textile mill buildings in Lowell, Mass. He was enjoying his lunch and paid no attention to me at all.
I only had my 18-70 lens so I was lucky to be able to get pretty close to him.
Thanks for looking
David

I am amazed he let you get that close.
Amazing shot especially with the lens you were using. I've been seeing hawks for the last two days but haven;t been able to get close enough for a shot with a 300mm and a 1.4 TC.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
Im sure Harry will be here soon and have some comment about this in realtionship to Andy,s eating habits:D

It was a treat to be so close. He did check me out for just a moment, I hoped he didn't want my eyes for desert!
My wife didn't like the look of his lunch, so I cropped it out for this one.
Cheers!

Today, my daughter and I went to Plum Island in search of birds and didn't get a single shot. The only interesting bird we saw was a Snowy Owl that was just a spec in a telescope. Just shows, the best things are often unplanned.
We did see a seal, a long way from the sea. Too far away to photograph with my 300 mm lens. He was in an area that was closed and I soooo wanted to go over there to get in range.
Been looking over the posts here, you guys do nice work
Cheers!
