I saw the WD40 gate shot that Angelo posted and it reminded me of a couple of "rusty metal" pictures I took last week.

I like to shoot industrial revolution subjects, love the New England mill towns. Anyway, these are a couple from Lowell, MA.

First a piece of old equipment, now a sculpture. I don't really like the trees in the background. I have a feeling they will be removed before long.

    Great shots. I love the juxtaposition of the warm colored rust and the cool ice it gives these images a nice pop!

    I like the color and composition of your first picture. The light gives a great "glow." Might also be interesting to see what it looks like in b&w.

    Ian, thank you for your comment as well. Getting the exposure close with the warm rust and the bright ice was a bit of a challange. Thank goodness for RAW format.

    Yep, plenty of rust on NYC bridges. Lowell can't compete in the bridge department, but they do have this one that I rather like:
