Remove smugmug "Hotlink"
Bodley

Needless to say - I just started really don't know what I'm doing (here's my link www.bodley.smugmug.com). What I'm wanting to do is remove the clickable Smugmug link in the "powered by smugmug" statement at the bottom of the page. Don't want people accidently going to the smugmug page and seeing what I pay for photo's and expect me to sell them at that rate.

And if you already do, simply go to the co-branding section and change the header/footer info to your liking. There is also a few threads with co-branding samples here at dgrin.

Cheers!
I do have a pro account and have already changed the footer but the "powered by smugmug(clickable)" still shows.
Also checked out several other sites, including yours, and this line appears on all of them.

I didn't not research that part it as far as it does not bother me.
In fact I like promoting smugmug, it brings 1) referrals and 2) my very own customers:-)
If you search dgrin for "cobranding" (or "co-branding"), you'll find a whole bunch of tips. E.g. this site: http://www.emphoto.com/ does not show any smugmugness whatsover...
Try to put </body></html> in the end of your footer (WARNING: as many of other HTML tricks it may screw things up!)

I'm up for promoting smugmug but I believe anyone wanting to investigate could and would without the hot-link. Having "powered bt smugmug" without being able to click and going to smugmugs site would be fine.
Also if you go to the photo page in http://www.emphoto.com/ it has the same hot-link "powered by smugmug"

bodley, it's part of the site and you cannot remove or change it.

Also, I would not worry too much about ppl going through all the links. Even if they go to smumug and spend the time searching for the original pricing - so what? You spent your time and efforts taking the picture, postprocessing, uploading, paying for hosting - add this all up, and $1 margin on 4x6 will seem tiny and totally irrelevant.
In any case - good luck with your site design!
Cheers!
Your pricing should reflect the value of the finished product, not the cost of the raw materials. This is not a commodity like rice we are talking about here, it's art.

Despite what others have said you can actually remove it.

To do this, add the following to the Cobranding stylesheet...
.nav
{ display: none; }

once you do this, the "logout" button is gone, how do you get logged out?

Nice work, David! And it seems that my short term memory is well akin Lori's (from Finding Nemo:-)
I wish JT had his part of help (the one he promised to do about all these stylesheets) completed by now.. All this lore, lying there, not used by anyone but a few pundits..
Cheers!
I could add a custom button, but it doesn't really bother me.

if you want to view your site as a customer would see it, you would need to log out.
so, how do i add the logout button, and only for me?

I'm afraid, the proper question would be - if I got logged out (e.g. erased cookie file), how would I get back logged in:-)
I remember a funny fact: I was just started to learn Novell (network stuff), it was the very first practical session. I noticed a directory with a lot of what seems to be "da junk" and decided to delete it. Well, guess what - it turned out to be my "home" directory, so once I logged out - I could not log back in - not until the admin's helped.
As always, you gotta be extra careful when playing with the matches:-)
Cheers!
you can log in/out via the smugmug homepage (upper right), that's cool...

I'm terribly sorry to have to do this, and I really do feel bad, but I'm afraid I might have to write some software to block this sort of attempt.
The fact of the matter is that a $100/year fee doesn't buy you a multi-million dollar piece of software. Our brand is important, and while we're happy to not shove it in your face, having each page at least be associated with ours is vitally important to our business.
There's a reason we leave that footer in, and it's not because we couldn't have done this in software ourselves.
I'm not 100% sure about this decision, so the discussion is on the table, but I'd have to hear something pretty compelling. Just to give you some idea, if we were to partner with Google or Amazon or Canon or something, it would be a requirement in any deal we did with them, as well, despite the fact that any of those partners would be a multi-million dollar account for us.

And, as I mentioned before, I have zero problems with this.
Less than zero - I like to flash your brand name:-)
Sometimes it gets me in trouble with "proud thatotherservice supporters", but hey, it's almost like here in LA:-) "Westside!"
More users for you - more potential users for me
I wish I could get you guys canon, google, oprah or amazon deal:-)
Cheers!
That's cool I totally understand, I actually thougt twice before I posted that as I had a feeling this may happen. To eliminate this threat, you need to remove any <class> or <id> references in the footer and apply the styles locally in the html elements.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
