After entering the north end of the road, you will climb the hill through some cattle land, but looking back you will get some breath taking views of the ocean. There are some cool manzanita groves near the top and around the south end. If you get the chance, check it out.
There's a great little book with just these sorts of roads in it. Off hand, I can't
remember the name but there are one or two for CA.
