Question about resolution & prints

I currently upload images at 1920px on their longest side, which seems to be more than enough to print all sizes available on SmugMug. http://www.smugmug.com/help/print-quality#minprintres
So I'm wondering; why do people upload original sizes (other than backup purposes)? Will prints from the original size image be better? I DON'T currently upload full size images because it takes so long to upload them. So is there a good reason why I should be more patient and upload higher resolution images? :dunno
Thanks for the help!

Uploading your full res pics will yield better prints. More pixels, more data, to produce better prints.
Some info on proof delay:
We very highly recommend our Pros make use of our Proof Delay feature.
Proof Delay allows you to review the order before it's sent to print,
make corrections and changes to the cropping as well as auto versus true
color. Best of all, you have the opportunity to totally replace any
image that is ordered, with your choice of a replacement, still allowing
you to adjust the crop and color setting after replacing it. For more
info on this, please see the links below which would eliminate any
problems in the future:
