How to place watermark along the side of an image?

At times I'd like to put the watermark along the side of an image, rather than the top or bottom, which seem to be the only stock options available from my gallery. Maybe I'm missing something.

Would that need to be done in PS prior to upload, or can it be managed from the gallery (preferred)?

Thanks!
Dane

    HI, Andy

    Here's the shot:

I want to place my watermark vertically, along the lower right side, to the right of the smaller tree trunk. I'd show you with the WM, but I don't know how to do that yet. :D I've noticed several other members using similar locations, so I figure there's gotta be a way.

    Thanks!

    it's tougher.

Try a 1200px wide watermark, transparent, with your mark in the right side.

Use an XL3 photo as your base layer in photoshop.

Thanks, Andy, but I'll need to know what an XL3 photo is in order to pull that off.

That would do nicely, Allen, but on the right side in this case as I'm sure you know.

Now, as the gallery tool doesn't seem to allow for such a thing, can you tell me the secret?

You can place it anywhere, check the location box on the watermark page for
    all the options.

center, top right, top left, bottom right, bottom left, top , bottom, left, right
and tile. I placed it bottom left.

I've tried that with a horizontal wm (non-rotated prior to upload), ie, placement bottom right, but it just goes along the bottom edge. If I rotate it to vertical prior to upload, will it then go along the right side?

BTW, Allen, how are you doing? We haven't chatted in a while . . .

    thanks,

I opened the original horizonal one in PSP, rotated 90° and uploaded the new
version. I now have two watermarks to pick from.

Doing great except no long lens at moment so birdin' has slowed to stop. Macros are keeping me busy though.

Is is broke? My longest is a whopping 135. There are times when I've wanted a 200 or 400, but it's not high enough on the list yet. My piggy bank went to upgrading to the 40D with the kit lens, so that's it for a while.

Hey, the rotation worked! clap.gif Thanks for the tip!

I noticed a couple of those new things this evening, so now I know what happened.

Allen's tip on rotating the watermark file prior to upload solved the riddle and placed the watermark on the side of the image. Thanks for your time!
