Incredibly Stupid Question

I'm on a roll tonight with elementary questions! Some thread titles appear in bold. Mine do not, and I can't highlight the title and use the B icon on the toolbar to bold it. So what's the secret to keeping up with the Bolds here?

Unless I'm mistaken, bold indicates that it's a thread with posts in it that you have not read.
