Well, this is my first post. I've just signed in with Smugmug and I'm about to experiment with the photography disucssion group approach, after a couple of years in the gallery sites (PhotoSig, UseFilm, Photopoints). It'll be nice meeting you.

    Welcome to dgrin. That's a pretty shot on a scene that wasn't easy to expose for. thumb.gif

    That's right. Really had to work on premises and in post-treatment to get that light out. And this is what I was after : a faint golden glow in the mist coming from the river on a very cold morning.
    My biggest challenge though was about composition. The stream is covered with fallen trees and branches that go in all directions. I figured that the opening toward the sun light and the movement of the dark water path was enough here to give a start of a structure to the image. But I still have mixed feelings about it.
