Smoky Moon

No politics, faith, guns, etc. No multiple meanings. Just plain old full moon...

This picture beats the typical flat shot of the moon. The edge detail gives depth. The color adds mood.

    thanks!
My primary concern is: is it a contender? headscratch.gif
There are tons of very nice entries already... deal.gif

I would say, "If this is your vision for the competition; it's good, and it's a contender". But, I'm not a judge, and IMO this LPS is loaded with some phenomenal entries.

I like the moon, but it looks like it was sharpened? to much for my taste... or maybe it is some other kind of effect you used, any way not fond of the result... FWIW

One of the most gorgeous moon shots I've seen! I'm floored that the 1.4x is so clear.... Interesting!

My only "complaint" is that I don't really feel a lot with this shot. I think it's gorgeous, clear and very well done. But maybe others feel something that I'm not. I admire it, but it doesn't make me feel something. Maybe if the smoke itself were visible as part of the obscuring - you know, sad that the fires are happening, etc.

As for being a contender, I don't know. I admit that I don't really rank the photos because I've done that in the past and been excited - and then disappointed. I tend to do the best I can and cross my fingers now! Laughing.gif!

    Andi,
    Thank you! thumb.gif
That's what bothers me the most. It's just a moon shoot. Probably nicely done, but nothing else. My original entry is overloaded with meanings while maybe lacking some visual appearance. This one looks nice but is too shallow...headscratch.gif
Oh well, I have a couple more days and a couple more ideas...mwink.gif

Nikolai, I agree with Andi. You are the king of the moon shots but I'm afraid the originality would hold it back in competition regardless of how great it is.

Here is my minus two cents worth (that means I owe you, I thinkrolleyes1.gif - a martini or beer on me the next time we meet?).

I'd use the moon with a brown tone background instead of black and go for monochrome big time. I understand the comments about lack of emotional pull etc. and no doubt the instincts of those commenting (as well as your own) are correct. Still, you are the master of the moon and this shot is totally, really aweome. bowdown.gif

This round is so competitive. I think, one of the best rounds so far.

And in relation to the new version of your image, it's right up there in my book. Good processing and definitely inspiring.
