Where there's smoke...

... there are sunsets.
There was something very unusual in the air today. The sky to the east was clear, and yet the sky to the west was hazy and filtered the sun. We always get great sunsets here in the desert, but tonight was different.
I didn't know what was causing the haze, until my six year old daughter explained that it was smoke from the SoCal fires. She learned that in school today. SoCal is 250 miles away. :huh

That must be some fire. My heart goes out to those affected.
Thanks for looking.

Very dramatic and love the details of the clouds across that sun.

I think #2 is my favorite.
Any chance of seeing the EXIF for these shots? They are all so crisp and balanced.

Hey Angelo,
Thanks for the compliment!
Typical settings were like this:
Exposure Time: 1/320 sec
FNumber: f 11
Focal length: 400 mm
ISO: 200
Actually the last two images with the partially obscured sun were shot at F22 and F25 because I was trying to get a Muench star. Didn't work, but I'll take what I got.
Cheers,

Since I'm here in Southern Calif., I'm hoping you don't get the opportunity to get these smoky sunsets again soon. Whew! I hope it's over.
