You got to be a semifinalist by making the effort and seeing your way
to a nice shot. Open theme just widens the game. Relax and go "see it"
again. You'll do just fine I'm sure. thumb.gif

I know how you feel. I was in the first SF - it IS stressful! Just keep your camera with you at all times, and shoot shoot shoot! Try to have fun! Before I submitted my photo, I showed all my favorites to my whoever was a willing viewer and asked which one moved them most. Shoot early so you have some time toward the end for processing and choosing. Congrats for making it to the semi-finals!

Some semifinalists have created their own theme and shot within their own parameters. That may or may not work for you.

That's what I was going to suggest! But be flexible... Find something you LOVE to shoot and work on that!

Personally, I dont' really like the themes - I find them to be way too hard to deal with. YIKES!!! (But they stretch me a LOT!)

Good luck! See you in the SFs!

If there is a photo, or a photo style that you have wanted to try, this is the perfect time to do it.
You can't be wrong no matter what you decide to shoot.
The big thing is to pick something right away, and shoot it for a week.
It it just doesn't work out, then go to a tried and true shot.

There should be no stress. You came in with nothing. If you leave the same way, you'll still have tried something that you wanted to try.

    Theme or no theme....
I would prefer a theme...I like having that roll around in the back of my head for a few days before I figure out what I want to do...

Right now...all that is rolling around in there is...open....hmmmm....open.....Okay....open....

"Open" is the time to take what your core view is, what your core skill is, shoot it, finish it, then present it to us all!

So what is it that you're best at...???
