what is the best way to sell this on SM? I have a poster, can be purchased in sizes from 8x10 up to 20 x 30. customer can pick the pictures from another gallery to be used in the poster. first, should i put up a poster built for each print size and only have that price for that poster? or can i just put one picture of it up, let them choose the size, pay for it, i have a 6 day delay, i then customize the poster and upload it? does it matter if i change the file name and resolution to fit the proper size they order? Man is this really that confusing? i am now! thanks for any input.

    Hi,

While there's no one 'right way' to do this, here's a couple of methods to consider:

    1) Make a custom version for each size, then hope that your customers are savvy enough to pick the right one, which almost inevitably fails. :)
    2) Proof and Retouch is AWESOME. With poster/magazine type fullfillment, there's always correspondence to be done, so a good way to do it, is put up a representative template in what you anticipate will be the most common size. For my posters, I only offer 20x30 and 30x40, so adapting is easy. You can display your template with a "Your photo(s) here" image, or use one of the model released photos you might have to show off a poster example. Allow them to purchase the demo poster at any size, then just proof and replace after you get their photo choices. Gotcha: This will replace the demo poster in the gallery, so immediately upload a new demo poster after you Replace Photo on the ordered one.
    3) Made-to-order. This is my preferred method. Add a representative poster image, but turn off printing options and give instructions on how to contact you (email address, phone, or a web form) with the size, any text, and images to be used, then make this, upload it to size and enable the purchase options/prices.

You can replace any photo with any photo, so no worries about size, resolution or filename.
