Re email security - if you must, embed the scans in a word document and save with a password - Also, given that globally we send trillions of emails daily the risk is miniscule - plus your email account is password protected
The password to an email account is not protecting the email or its contents. Emails accounts are compromised daily around the world. If you were to send a document with privacy data in it and it was embeded in as an attachment to that email or in the email itself, you can still see the information in the clear if the email is intercepted in transit. The only true way to ensure the information is not compromised is to encrypt the email that you send using a PKI encryption with a public and private key setup. Then you can be sure that that data in the email has not been compromised.
$26.95 and you don't need to do any home engineering:
I bought one of these to run my Awesome American Kitchenaid Mixer in my German Kitchen. Yes, I know preplanning for a mixer causes me to lose manpoints, but I really don't care.

BTW, European power is much stronger than US power, so I wouldn't insert keys, tongues, fingers or other valuable appendages into their sockets.
