I've been testing Singh-ray's reverse grad-ND filter and have been loving the results. Here's a practice session over at Laguna Beach, CA using my 16-35mm at 13 seconds. F22 Iso 50.

Thanks for looking :thumb

That is a really cool effect. What density did you use and how is the gradient? I guess I mean if you had the 3 stop version what is the approximate value of the top of the filter? It also looks relatively clear on the bottom, is that accurate?

    Thanks and really neat shot.

Mike, I used a Singh-ray 4x6 1.2 stop split reverse grad ND filter and the gradient makes it gain about 2 stops on the top. Its pretty workable if you center your horizon. That is my main problem however.
I need a custom made reverse grad nd filter that is 1/3 of the way up. Its much harder to get your horizon framed in shots when it is split in half IMO.

I even asked Singh ray to create a custom reverse grad ND sunset filter that would darken the area near the sunset by an extra 6 stops if possible. Whether or not they can, well that's another matter. I should see if Lee could do something similar as well thumb.gif

Here's an example of what I would love to see for the custom ND's

Heck I would be happy with the one they sell. I was just curious which density variety you had as it seems to be a bit expensive to experiment with...

    Thanks
