Safari 3 now allows you to resize text entry boxes. This works when posting on Dgrin, in your Customize page on SmugMug, just about anywhere that allows you to enter text, just drag the resize handle in the lower right of the box, like this:

    I refuse to use Safari.

I absolutely hate the huge blocks of preview text that appear on forums like this one, when your cursor touches a thread title.

I can't seem to turn it off. Firefox doesn't do this. And yes, Patch, I have JavaScript and Java enabled. deal.gif

I love that. But, a switch to turn it off makes a lot of sense. Send them feedback!

it's a problem that it won't work on an 8 year old OS? lol3.gif

PS: it works great for SmugMug input boxes, too, like keywords and comments clap.gif

I agree with Dave, the ability to enlarge the input text box is SUPER!!

I have always composed large posts in a text editor and then pasted them into the box, but I have also always hated doing it that way.

The enlargeable text box thingy is more better!!

Me too! I thought I was the only one, it's so messy, I just want to shake it off, in fact I go to great length trying to avoid it.

I can't argue, but then I do have a phobia for sticky labels in real life, not sure I should admit to that but it's nice to be different.

If you want to get rid of me, which isn't uncommon, just stick a label on your clothes or skin and I'll either vomit or run away.

    Weirdo, moi, oui!

Actually, I tried it, and it removes the URL as advertised, but not the preview of the linked post.

I'm running the final Safari 3 and they're there, for sure. If ever I find a foolproof way of disabling, I'll be sure to let you know.

Every couple of months, I forget why I don't use Safari, fire it up... and am quickly reminded.

In Firefox on Winders, I don't get the preview box at all. On a Mac, I get a single line of text.

By contrast, in Safari I get a comparatively large box of text.

I tried to take screen shots, but for some reason Apple-Shift-3 doesn't show the boxes. ne_nau.gif

I'm convinced that Safari for Windows exists for the sake of developers and no one else.

They don't actually expect people to use it do they? It blows chunks (the Windows version) compared to Firefox and it's lousy compared to IE as well.

On my iPhone, now that's a different story :ivar

Apple-Shift-4 will grab selections. Apple-Shift-3 is the entire screen.

Beyond what David said, think about it. To use Apple-Shift-4 you have to move the cursor. What happens to the block of preview text you want to show, when you move the cursor? lol3.gif

Interesting. I find FF frustratingly slow and the RSS is weak compared to Safari. On a Mac, of course. Never tried Safari on Windows. ne_nau.gif

    So strange.

If anything, I find Safari slower than FF on my Macbook (although the difference isn't pronounced.) I can unequivocally say it's not faster. ne_nau.gif

    Is too!!!! :D

I'm also talking about the startup time of the app itself. FF is slow.
