Domain Name

I understand that I can only have one domain name in addition to my smugmug domain name. I have www.capturedmomentds.com set up as a cname. Is it possible to set up another domain name as a cname instead of www.capturedmomentds.com and forward www.capturedmomentds.com to my site. I am changing my business name and domain name, but I would like for those who have my current domain name bookmarked to still be able to find me.

Hi, as you stated, only one CNAME to SmugMug. Depending on your domain host, you might be able to successfully forward one domain to the CNAMEd domain.

Yes - it isn't hard to do. You set up forwarding on the original domain to the new domain and you should be all set. Andy is right that some registrars are more difficult than others but all the major ones are pretty easy and I bet if you run into trouble the fine help folks here will step in

Thanks for the quick response Andy and Brian. I used Joker.com, which is Smugmug's preferred choice. Will it work with them?

(I've never daisy chained domains, but I've heard it work sometimes).

Much easier to remember and certainly find in a search engine. I went with katzclix based on my last name and not liking what else was available as far as domain names (plus I let the kids help - for a while it looked like it was going to be katzeye)

Let me know how the forwarding works out and if SM's great help can't get you going I will be glad to lend a hand.

I'm having trouble too!
I recently bought a domain name from go daddy. www.erikadorie.com and I was following the steps in the tut, but seemed to get stuck on steps 4 and 5 I'm guessing because I went back to smugmug's page to change the domain name and it didn't seem to be working? I don't really know where to start so I would appreciate any help with this.

Glad to help but can't really see what you are doing - the links won't work since we do not have your session.

You should see a a www listed in the host column. You want to delete that and then after a few minutes go to step 5 and add it back in but pointing to smugmug.
