Just recieved my first camera a few days ago (Nikon D70) and have been trying to work it out with some shots of things in my backyard. Please let me know how I'm going and give me tips on how to improve.

    wave.gif and welcome.

Nice shots. I heard that Nikon's can prodcue good images. So even though it's not a Canon - you should be able to get by. :D

The first two are nice, but really without any composition that makes me appreciate them photographically.

The third one has nice bokeh on the background, but the flower is too low in the frame, and the reds are a bit over-saturated. Sharpness may be suffering here since the flower as crisp as it probably should be. Perhaps you focused and recomposed thus shifting the focal plane a bit? I worked a 3:2 crop on this one. This helps the overall composition a bit IMO.

Looking forward to seeing more from you.

Yep, thanks for the advice, I see what you mean. I need to find better 'subjects' for my shots. Maybe i'll have to get out of the garden. headscratch.gif
