Been lurking here awhile. The photos on this site prove I've got a lot to learn and motivate me to do so. While I recently purchased a D80, these photos were taken from a kayak with a Nikon Coolpix 5700 at the Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island.

Followed him thru the Mangroves and got another shot.

    Hi Jen
Actually I'm from western Massachusetts (Berkshires) where it's always nice to get away from in the winter. Sanibel is my favourite winter getaway destination.

    Thanks DBAKER1221 and Harv
After seeing some of the truly incredible images in this forum it's hard not to feel reluctant to offer up one's humble attempts. However I love trekking about in the woods and fields and photograping what I see so I will persist and, hopefully improve as time goes on.
Harv, thanks for the link to Pixel-Shooter.com in your post. I found the tutorial on color adjustment using PS levels tool extremely helpful. BTW your photos and Prescott Photog's and others' on this board are inspirational and give us beginners a sense of what we might aspire to.

Hi John, Welcome to the best forum on the internet. Your first shot is excellent. If it wasn't for all the great photos I've seen posted here I wouldn't have had the inspiration to improve either. And it sounds like you have a couple great areas to shoot, Mass. and Fla., not to bad for stomping grounds.

Jack, first and foremost, I am a beginner and new at this forum.
Your pictures look great and inspirational.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I said inspirational, because I live 45 minutes from the S.E. Florida Everglades, and there is a lot of landscape, wildlife and other magnificent places to shoot.
I am blessed to own a Mudbuddy (Hunting flat bottom boat) that can take me inside the Everglades in areas where only airboats can go.
I am going to take good advantage of this.
    Thanks.beer.gif

Welcome, Jack! I like the first photo--the second is sort of out of focus. In the firs one, I like the fact that the leaves are in focus--they sort of frame the bird. Keep posting! Best, Pam

You can imagine my shock when I saw this pop up headscratch.gif At first I thought someone else was using my username!!
I know I've been away from dgrin for awhile but a simple welcome back would have sufficed :D
