Hey... So this past summer, I decided to finally spend some money and bought myself a D40x. I figured it was a perfect camera for a complete beginner on the DSLR scene. I've been having a lot of fun with it, but up until a few weeks ago, didn't have anything significant to shoot.

Then, our high school hosted the Pumpkin Festival, a charity event by Life Is Good, and I signed up to help out. I figured it'd be a perfect event to bring my camera to, and so along came my D40x.

Below are some of my favorite pictures from the event, and also a link to my flickr account with the rest. For my very first real shooting "assignment," I think the pictures turned out pretty well.

Please lemme know what you think, whether you love them or hate them. Comments and criticisms would be muchhh appreciated, as this is a hobby I want to get better at. Thanks for looking!

I love the matching B's. Maybe I should crop out the left?

The pink cotton candy matched her vest so well, i had to take this one:

Those are only some of my favorites. It's really hard for me to narrow it down to only a few. If you like these pictures, or want to see more from the festival, click here: http://www.flickr.com/gp/14031158@N03/G4b90n

Once again, this is my first shoot, and any comments are very much appreciated.

Thanks!

nice photos! like the lighting and the colours a lot!

as a tip from a novice: you could try to crop a little tighter and from a lower angle next time and make the composition somewhat more personal. for the rest.. thumb.gif

15524779-Ti.gif with both comments. Kids photograph much better when you're down on their level.
