As New Orleans slips far away
When the gas lights dim and the street cars fade
When the beast within takes on a new shape
The blood runs cold make no mistake

You're just a vampyre with a healthy appetite
And you stay awake half the night

Take a trip take a ride
    Through Darktown don't be shy
Gather by the clocktower take your seats
Glad you're here it's for keeps
Festering wounds from years gone by
    Toxic waste you buried inside
    In Darktown

For someone else the blues and greens
The dreaming spires the skin-tight jeans
The armchair armies on the march
The transfer unit tube and mask
Who needs all the endless lies
That serve to keep the world alive
To taste the sweetness of the grave
And not regret mistakes I've made

Goodbye to all the angry dawns
    Committee meetings pistols drawn
You can keep the rave reviews
The priests the guards the prisons and zoos

Goodbye to all the nation's pride
Farewell to those all choosing a side
In hut number twelve they're issuing guns
But only for the chosen ones

Dark as night, dark as the grave
Dark wherein my friend is laid
    Sleepwalkers fill the boulevards
    Pretty girls and backward boys
All the voices can be heard, an opera of the absurd

Dark as night, dark as the grave
Dark wherein my friend is laid
We welcome you, we welcome you
The world of chaos far away
As the crowd of mourners said
    "Tragedy is nothing new"

    Dark as night

Dark as night, dark as the grave
Dark wherein my friend is laid

    When you call on me
    When I hear you breathe
    I get wings to fly
    I feel that I'm alive

    When you look at me
    I can touch the sky
    I know that I'm alive

    When you bless the day
    I just drift away
    All my worries die
    I'm glad that I'm alive

At the doorway of my heart
All the leaves have fallen down
And though I try to pick them up
    There's so many I think I'll drown

Ten days have come and gone
Ten days and I'm all alone
And all that I can do is
    Pray and pray
Ten days I've seen the rain
Comin' down on a sunny day
But all I've got to do is
    Pray and pray
    And pray

At the doorway of my life
I feel the pain but feel no shame
And what I've got I keep inside
Some things have changed but I'm still the same

If none of us believe in war
Then can you tell me what the weapon's for?
    Listen to me everyone
If the button is pushed there'll be nowhere to run

    Giants, sleeping giants
    Winning wars within their dreams
'Till they wake when it's too late
    And in God's name blaspheme

Killer of giants threatens us all
Mountains of madness standing so tall
Marches of protest not stopping the war
    Or the killer of giants
    The killer of giants

Mother Nature, people state your case without its worth
Your seas run dry, your sleepless eyes are turning red alert

Killer of giants threatens us all
Mountains of madness standing so tall
Rising so proudly, it has nowhere to fall
    This killer of giants
    This killer of giants, yeah

hear you breathing though you're so far away
Can you just go where you're going to?
I couldn't give a damn or two about a fool like you
    That's true

Are you just too cool? No, you're just perfectly cold
And what goes 'round still comes around
I think it's all summed up and down in a fool like you
    That's true

Won't you listen 'cos I'm at it again
Lightning striking, and on that you can depend
They say that lightning never strikes the same place twice
Gods of thunder, sit and watch the event

You know I take no prisoners
    My back's to the wall
You know I must be going
    When destiny calls
Until I feel that thunder shattering my brain

I won't stop rockin' all night, rockin' all night
    Until the lightning strikes again
Rockin' all night, rockin' all night
    Until the lightning strikes again

Out on the streets I'm stalking the night
I can hear my heavy breathing
Paid for the kill, but it doesn't seem right
Something there I can't believe in
Voices are calling from inside my head
I can hear them, I can hear them
Vanishing memories of things that were said
They can't try to hurt me now

But a shot in the dark
    One step away from you
Just a shot in the dark
    Always creeping up on you
    All right

    Overkill, enough is enough
There's nothing left of me to devour
You've had your fill, I'm all I have left
What can stop your hunger for power?

    'Cos you took advantage
    Of things that I said
    Now the feeling is dead
    And that's the ultimate sin
    And that's the ultimate sin

nyway I look at it now
The doors are closed and cannot be opened
Bury your anger and bury your dead
Or you'll be left with nothing and no one

    There's no point in screaming
    'Cos you won't be heard
    Now the tables have turned
    It was the ultimate sin

Less OCC parking lot shots, more Maico in the fall foliage! clap.gif

btw, that first cemetary shot is pretty cool too. you somehow managed to tone down the flash a bit so that it didn't blow everything in the foreground to smithereens.

and I worked pretty darn hard for that shot. when its over the river and thru the woods to visit with those vermont types I pass that small cemetery. its right over the Mass. border on 43 which runs from 22 in NY up to Williamstown. so when you are standing in the dark in front of a 200 year old cemetery you take what you can get. and I wasn't getting much. if I didn't spend every waking minute on EBay waiting for the perfect YZ to come along I might know my camera better but I don't. so what was happening was that in the dark autofocus was having a hard time locking onto anything. I was pressing the button and nothing was happening. christ I was getting the willies :eek1 everytime the wind blew.

but I persevered and got a few shots. some were washed so I only uploaded one but I may have to have another look.

that cemetery is in Hancock and I googled Hancock. seems back in the 1760's by King's Grants they was handing out parcells of land at a 1000 acres a crack like they was handing out free horse and buggy wash.

was it the Kings land to be giving away? I think not.

anyway Hancock is where the Shakers built the round stone barn to beat all round stone barns so I'm going to have to get up there and have a look as I'd like to see that. and its on the way to Dukegirls so how do you beat that?

everyone said hi! we had sushi. will send a pic. Rabia hates her FJ Cruiser.

    .

i like that OCC parking lot shot. the first cemetary shot i like, too. the words aren't bad either.

don't forget you can swtich to manual focus in those situations or guess the distance from the scale on the lens.

as for the flash obliterating everything you can try lowering the ratio of flash to available light on the camera. try -1/2 to start.

one thing i like to do is put my finger somewhere in front of the flash like at the bottom of side in order to shape the light. my kids do this by accident all the time on my little pocket camera and sometimes it looks amazing.

keep up the good work and the peserverance on the YZ.
