Mr. Hoodie has returned to his winter haunt.

After running my dog this morning, I packed up my wife Daphne and my gear and headed for the Ganaraska in Port Hope. I pulled in and parked. Got out of the vehicle and there he was, in the river directly in front of me. :D:D

It was overcast and the light sucked big time but at least the little guy was nice enough to stick around for some shots. This guy is just too cute.

Hi Harv.. What a beautiful bird. Nothing like them around here. I replied earlier (but must not have hit the submit button, ) that the reflections in the water around him really adds to your photos.

Thanks a lot, Chris. Hey, I've done that more than once, but in my case there is an excuse... I'm getting old. I appreciate your comments, particularly about the reflections and texture of the water as I was actually trying to highlight that as well. At times, it can look like molten lead or mercury.

Thanks a lot, Dave. These were shot with my 500/4. I would have prefered a lower perspective but that wasn't possible. The water levels in this area have been very, very low this year and at the spot where this little guy was, the banks were quite high. I had my tripod legs splayed out and the rig as low as I could get it. The short center column was touching the ground. Everything was shot at ISO400, f/5.6, 1/1,600 - 1/1,250 sec.
