Hello,

Finally time to post something, I've only been lurking for two years.

Here are some of the local rugby clubs - the Daytona Beach Coconuts (Div II Men), the Daytona Punishers (Women's Rugby), and the Embry-Riddle Iron Eagles (Men's College/University) in action against other Florida Rugby Union teams from the fall season.

The rest of this seasons rugby galleries can be found here... http://gerber-3.smugmug.com/Sports/407045

#8 - 11 are the best - great action, well framed.
    #2 - 4 are not showing.
The others could benefit from some cropping of the 'extra's' to draw the focus ont the action.

Keep posting, you're off to a great start. I do not know anything aboutRugby, but doubt it is easy! Well done.

I'm still trying to figure out whose head goes with whose legs in #9... hope they're all still attached!

Like Ann said, a bit more cropping might be useful. nice shots, and keep posting!

You have some good action and some excellent faces. The light wasn't your friend, but that's often the case.

Cropping your shots to guide the eye to the good stuff would be a simple but highly effective way to squeeze more drama out of these.

Looks like a great start at rugby sports photography. I must admit, I tried rugby once and totally blew it (see my galleries for my only rugby stuff). Shoot hockey, soccer, football and I know where to expect action. First rugby game and I was totally lost.

    Any whoooo.

For quite a few of the shots, I would be on the opposite side of the field if possible. Looks like a bit of backlight.

Otherwise, keep at it and get tighter.

    Thanks for the comments...
Thanks for the feedback from everyone. I will post some more after this weekend (ERAU's Homecoming). Not sure I can do much about the light, with kickoffs usually between noon and 2:00 PM, I do shoot with a hood and sometimes w/ a polarizer.

With regards to cropping, as a sports shooter...should I be trying to "standardize" print/image sizes, or does it really matter that all of the photos in a series or collection are irregularly sized?

    Regards,
    Gerber
