You must be from another planet. No human could possible produce these results. You have a third eye don’t you? (all meant with the highest of complements) Amazing…. simply nothing short of amazing. Thanks MM

No need to tell me what it is.. Somethings in life are better off being unknown..
Great shots as usual Brian.

I am curious hou did you managed to get such magnification?
Is it just Sigma 105 or some extension rings as well?

Jon - you probably eat that ooze- it's honey, I gave it some to keep it happy whilst I photographed it
Gus - just my single 430ex flash gun
JetC - No was using my MPE-65 lens around 3:1 to 4:1 magnification

Thanks Skippy
It was sucking yup a tiny drop of honey
Not sure if you get Dyson vacs out there but the design of them is very interesting they look more and more outlandish with each model- this did actually remind me of ione when I was taking the shot.
Yes the shots were stacked by hand from 3 or 4 shots.

Thanks for the comments.
I've spent about 1.5 years getting used to the lens (MPE-65) and about 2 .5 years getting a light (flash) system that worked well.
I'm afraid I don't really shoot inorganic things apart from water drops but they always have organic content. Shot below is an example - the dewdrops are about 2.0mm in diameter.

The shots were a slight cheat - the fly was in the house and I trapped it with a glass and piece of card to put it outside but then decided to see if I could get it to hold still by putting a tiny drop of honey on the card. Took about 0.5 secs for the fly to find it and I was able to remove the glass for the pics

That's not cheating Brian, it's called knowing your subject -one of the many things that sets you apart from the rest of the macro shooters out there... :cool

Your photos just get better and better. I always say the last ones were the best but now you have produced these well I am amazed and cannot find words to justify your talents. I am sure you will have everyone on here purchasing a MP-E 65mm lens. I can't wait until my mother in law visits the States at Xmas and she said she would buy me one as a Xmas present.
I know for a fact my photos will never turn out like yours but I am a trier.
Cheers
Bob
Mack is three. He said, "where are there bugs that big?"
Magnification is a hard concept, though he has been seen walking around with a magnifying glass..
Thanks Bob
Hope you get the lens

Mine arrived yesterday
Have been thinking about one for a while, having seen Brian's excellent results here and those by other ppl elsewhere on the net - so decided to take the plunge.
Whether I'll be able to do it justice is another matter, tho - as am under no illusions whatsoever re the skill needed to use such in a 'real-world' environment.
Just over five hundred odd quid well spent imo.
Again, nice pics - esp. the third.

Paul - you should have fun with the lens - takes a bit of getting used to and playing with to get best results.
