The first round was held on Wednesday with 4 matches from noon to past 9:00 pm. It provided for a wide range of ligh settings.

Soccer fan gets too close:


Switched to my 85 mm. I am limited to what I can get, but what I get turns out OK. Miss some shots though as AF doesn't keep up sometimes. Plus, it's so lightweight I can shoot one handed and keep my other hand warm as it got pretty cold.

Nice stuff- especially the daytime shots.

Really good considering your not excactly using a camera made for sports.

A little less DOF would've been better but color, sharpness and exposure all looks good.

DOF is about to be corrected. I hit the mother load yesterday. The paper I work for switched to Canon a while back, but it still has it's Nikon gear. I found several 80-200 2.8 AF's and a couple of 300 2.8. I know get to use top of the line canons for my full time work, and the old but good nikon equipment for my off time/freelance for the sister paper.

I work for UT's daily paper so I've been able to shoot their soccer quite a bit and that night stuff is really tough! Looks like you have some great shots! Who won the UT game anyways?
