My first attempt at "street photography."
We wandered around and did our best to get lost in Tokyo today, the initial results:
Distinguished

Patterns

Alley

Thanks for looking, and as always, C&C appreciated.

In pic 3 I found myself drawn to the blurred signs on the shop on the left trying to make out if I was missing something and not the young man on the right

The shallow depth of field in the first and last images works well. The pattern of the stairs is not very interesting, sorry just trying to be honest. What I find interesting is how the man in the first image appears to be posing for a portrait but is not, great juxtaposition This could become a style
Oh and BTW, what a cool place to shoot the streets, have fun

I'm sorry to say, the second is missing something. I don't find a technical flaw with it, but it doesn't just doesn't grab my attention. It might have worked better if there was a ray of light coming in the opposite direction to give you something to focus on.
Did you see any harajuku girls?
Nope, that's tomorrow morning. I hear Sundays are where it's at!

Very cool. Are you heading to Akihabara? I think it would be interesting to take some Otaku photos along with the girls since most people are unaware of this sub-culture.
However, with you-tube and the web, I'm finding more and more in teens in suburbia obsessive with manga, etc. Strange...

Argh! I had forgotten where that district was and we passed it on the JR the last two days on the way to dinner. I definitely want to see geek culture and all the twisted ways it manifests itself.
I am having quite a lot of difficulty getting any shots because urban photography of this nature is new to me. I think Zweiblumen is in his element, though. At least one of us is productive!

I like the stairs, but then I just like shots of stairs in general. My wife says that some year, we'll do our yearly gift calendar of just shots of stairs.

Great street shooting indeed!

Tim - Thanks for looking. Are you saying that the 3rd photo is hard to focus on the man in the street?
Marc - I was messing around with focal lengths and apertures while getting people to NOT notice me taking their picture. It was a lot of fun. Apparently my "Patterns" shot isn't that popular. I appreciate the honest opinions, it only helps I'm still partial to it
April - Can almost say the exact same thing as I did for Marc : And I do love the way he looks posed, but we were both just walking down the street!
As for Harajuku and Akihabara, still on our list of places to hit! Sunday is looking good for these.
jziegler - Thanks! See, I'm not the only one that likes them! I've got so many stairway shots, they are coming out of my ears!
Thanks to everyone for looking! I appreciate the feedback.
