AFTER NUMEROUS UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPTS AT FISHING
219575544-O.jpg

THE OSPREY WAS READY FOR A REST ON HIS FAVORITE PERCH
219574876-O.jpg

BUT TO HIS SURPRISE THAT SPOT WAS ALREADY OCCUPIED
219574964-O.jpg

SO HE FIGURED HE'D EVICT THE UNWELCOME INTRUDER
219575019-O.jpg

BUT THE EGRET WAS HAVING NONE OF THAT
219575162-O.jpg

HE MADE MANY MORE ATTEMPTS BUT THE EGRET WOULDN'T BUDGE
219575205-O.jpg

219575309-O.jpg

THE EGRET FINALLY HAD ENOUGH AND GAVE THE OSPREY A GOOD PECKING (impossible to see from this angle)
219575352-O.jpg

HURT AND EMBARRASSED THE OSPREY FINALLY GAVE UP...
219575401-O.jpg

...AND TOOK OFF TO FIND ANOTHER PERCH ON WHICH TO NURSE HIS WOUNDS FAR AWAY FROM THAT BELLIGERENT EGRET
219575458-O.jpg

THE MORAL OF THIS STORY:
"HE WHO FIGHT AND RUNS AWAY, LIVES TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY"

Great series, Russ. Every image is super sharp and detailed. What super interaction you captured. You can even see the blood on the head of the osprey in the last shot. Beautiful work. clap.gifclapclap.gif

OUTSTANDING Russ !! Love a good story, especially when there is a little roap-a-dope thrown in. I think the Osprey was out-beaked by a few inches..clap.gifclap.gif

Amazing! Nice, sharp pictures. I wonder if the osprey was a juvenile. I wouldn't think an adult would try that.

An excellent series Russ; you handled the dark bird and white bird exposure very well, not to mention capturing the moment of supprise to the Osprey. When the opportunity presented itself, you met the challenge with skill and calm experience. I also love the color, and detail of the first shot. Well done Mr. Photographer.thumb.gifthumb.gifthumb.gifthumb.gif

Hey Russ I think you need to get a sharper lens, :D I bet that osprey has a headache now, great behavior shots love them.

Was that the tree right above where we shoot all the time, I know he likes to perch there lately.

    Thanks John, you're probably right.
I'm sure after this experience he'll know better than to confront another egret in the future.

15524779-Ti.gif those beaks can do some real damage to whomever they strike,
unfortunately for the inexperienced osprey he was the target this time.
