Hi there, had a day off work today:clap sooooo I figured I'd go to Werribee Zoo, and test out my Canon Gear yet again, with great joy.

They don't have a lot of animals there, but they have very natural enclosures.
There is one Cheeta, and unfortunately his days are numbered, because of some kind of kidney disease, that already killed the other Cheeta.

I had a lot of fun walking around, and shooting and reshoot, and I even got a shot of a little Blue Wren.......those Wrens had no fear I tell you, they came so close I couldn't photograph them hehehe:)

Enjoy :) Ohhhhhhh I love my new gear I tell ya :):D

    For Shay
Im happy it turned out Shay because it was taken through thick tinted glass.
I just find with the Canon I don't have to post process anywhere near as much as I tried with my Sony????

The images straight out of the camera look great...I'm so pleased with it.
Thanks for the comment Shay :): the larger images look far better than the ones I posted on the web.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

    Hi Marlof,

One of the Rhinos has actually got a baby, it is sooooo cute :)
Werribee Zoo is part of a world breeding program that help breed animals that are becoming extinct, but sometimes their work is done in vain.... and poachers kill off anything they can make money out of :cry

    Hi Ya Harry
Ohhhhhhh I'm having lots of fun with the new toys :D
Yes I have got a macro lens, but I been playing with 70-200mm hehehe :D
I gotta find me some bugs, blasted mosquitos are eating me alive I tell you.

I brought the Canon 100mm 2.8 Macro, and I also got a set of Kenko Extension Tubes........but they didn't send me a bug to photograph with my new lens ......why ? ne_nau.gif

My Swan Plants are a wonderful size now, they are able to sustain a bunch of caterpillars, so hopefully when Spring comes around I will have myself a little butterfly farm in my own yard clap.gif

    Take Care Harry.......... Skippy (Australia)

    Hi Troy
Troy the Werribee Zoo has these huge Open Plain areas that you go through in a big big bus, you cannot drive through it yourself, nor can you walk through it.

The animals are used to the bus and stay where the bus can drive right up to where they are, they feed them close to the road, and the animals have the right of way, they are not allowed to beep the horn if the animal is on the road in front of the bus.......they call a Ranger and the Ranger moves them on.

This is to ensure the animals are never afraid of the bus, and makes it possible for us to get really, really close to the animals, they have successfully bred them at Werribee Zoo.

    Take Care Troy......... Skippy (Australia)

You would have loved the Wrens, they are so used to people you could have just about touched them, they were within inches of me, I was just shocked that they kept coming back and even if I moved they moved with me.

They move very quickly, made it hard to keep up with them.
There were heaps of them, the colorful males and the little brown females, and with them were ohhhhhhhh lets see.....hmmmm about a Million Mosquitos!!!

I'll spend more time trying to capture them next time :):

    Skippy,

I liked the Cheetah and the Rhino, but that little Blue Wren was my fav. So petite and so colorful thumb.gifthumb.gif Probably got so close cuz he thought you were going to feed him.....lol What did he get for his troubles? The big "keeeerack" of the 20D's shutter on steroids.....lol

No bugs yet? Have you looked inside your house? :yikes biggrinbounce2.gifLaughing.gif, I'm sure it's only a matter of time until you put that macro lens to good use mwink.gif

Speaking of bugs, if you get a chance there's a Spider thread posted, in this forum. Maybe you can lend your expertise to ID'ing this one :):

Thanks for sharing and I just knew you'd appreciate and enjoy the 20D clap.gif

    Thanks Steve
Those little Wrens were playing and playing, the more I watched the more that came, at one stage there were at least 6 of them just playing and hoping about.

I'm no spider expert my friend, I just photograph 'em :D

Just lately I haven't had a lot of time to go play, I work late, and work most weekends.....gotta pay for my new toys and my 7 week vacation in USA later this year :) then I will go play BIG TIME clap.gif

I'll see if I can find the spider thread.......thanks for the comment Steve.
I am enjoying this new gear sooooo much, I walk and I smile and I have to keep saying "No I am not with the Press" rolleyes1.gif people ask me every time I go out if I am with the Press :): ...... Skippy (Australia)
