Hi all, I'm new here and have a question about a problem that is showing up in some of my images.
Tonight I was trying to shoot the Aurora and noticed this in every image.

20071112-IMG_1082.jpg?imgmax=512

It's a very tight crop of the center.
Info:
Canon 40D with EF-S 17-55 IS
ISO 500
2.8
24mm
15 sec

I took about 7 frames with this lens at different shutter speeds and ISO's and the circular pattern was visible in the center of every one.
I also shot with a 70-200 2.8L IS and did NOT find that pattern.

Anyone else have a similar experience with this lens?

Thanks

    Was the IS turned on?

Pretty sure IS was off, but I've caught myself forgetting when I put it on the tripod.ne_nau.gif

I think it may have been a result of the cheap UV filter I had on.
It was windy earlier that afternoon so I had it on to keep the dust off the lens.....

After I posted this, I removed that filter (Tiffen) and reshot.
    Could not duplicate the rings.

Unless someone else has any ideas, I'm going with the filter theory.deal.gif

If you re-attach the filter and and reproduce the rings, you have a culprit.
